Finally, i was not required to go to work on public holiday! but actually, it’s not that i am not required to work..it’s as long as i can finish my work on time. so, i can either work at home, or i will need to speed up for the next 3 days. God help me!
yesterday lee kien organised a trip to bagan lalang. it’s a small fishing village which is situated 30 minutes from the Sepang F1 circuit. we wanted to "dine" in a floating restaurant and also catch the sunset at the same time.
oh, it was not just the two of us. we had another 3 friends who came along (Jason, Teong Ghee and Yin Yin). just nice to fit the 5 of us in the car.
lee kien found out abt the restaurant from one of the forums he frequently visit. forum contributors commented that the food is good and reasonably priced.
we started our journey at about 4.45pm after picking up the rest of them. there was not map to guide us to the place, but we will depend on the road signs along the high way to get to bagan lalang first.
you know, i’ve heard many people saying that the road signs in malaysia cannot be trusted as it will not lead you to the place that you want to go. but i would think otherwise as i’ve been driving around quite a lot when i was with the previous company i worked for. maybe it’s the driver…not the signboards!! (just joking).
when we were halfway there, lee kien asked me to make a reservation for 5 people, in case all tables were taken by the time we reached there. i told the restaurant staff that we will be arriving abt 6 to 6.30pm, as we will have to find the place by ourselves when we reach the bagan lalang town.
thank God that we have some good navigators in the car. at first we thought that we were lost as we were driving through some kampung roads and it felt like we are getting deeper and deeper into the village. we called the restaurant again to get direction. thank God again, we were going the right way and we reached the place at 6pm.
when we get down from the car, we thought 6pm is still early and the restaurant is still empty. we decided to walk around the beach first. jason took out his camera and started to get busy. while we were all enjoying nature, then the restaurant called lee kien. he asked if we have arrived. i thought how nice for them to call to ask to ensure that we were not lost. they even made sure that it was us by asking if we were those who came out from the black colour car.
that was kinda funny. we told him we will be there soon after walking around. after another 15 mins, they called again!! i dont know that they said to lee kien, but it seemed that they are very eager and very impatient to have us there already. i wonder if they were afraid that we have gone to the other seafood restaurant (rival :P).
what is "special" here is that, we get to choose the seafood that we want to eat. while we choosing, then we realised that the seafood is actually not that fresh. 4 of us were there as jason was still busy taking pics. i was given the privilege to choose as the rest of them dont really know how to choose. i must thank my mom for teaching me ;D
if u want to choose fish, take those without reddish eyes. another way is to see the guts (or gills? i cant remember what it is called, but in malay it is "insang") must not be pale but reddish also. for prawns, choose those with head still intact. if the head looks like it can drop off anytime, then it’s not fresh. the rest, i am not sure how
during sunset, the colour of the sky was nice. orangy, pinky, purply and bluishly. nice harmony of colour. God’s definately the greatest atrist! it’s very wonderful, although it just for a few minutes.
we continue eating. the food was actually not as nice as i expected. but it doenst really matter. but the bill…..well…kinda pricey if u take into account the quality and the quantity.
we drive along the beach after dinner. there were many people camping along the beach, we were surprised!! maybe we can do that some other time too.
for once in kl, i see clear sky with many stars!! seriously, it’s been a long time since i last saw many stars in the sky! could be the last redang trip. we took quite a lot of pictures there. we also saw a dead jellyfish on the shore. it looked like a packet of water! haha..it looked like a transparent plactic bag full of water!
after all that, we headed back to pj. it was tiring, but such an enjoyable evening. thanks to lee kien for organising this trip. maybe we can do this once again next time.
